ROBERT A. LARSON
|
Robert has been involved in the diecutting process for over forty years manufacturing flat and multi-contour clicker & high dies,
close tolerance EDM cutting dies and steel rule cutting dies plus diecutting all types of soft to semi-rigid materials.
Since the late 1950's, Robert had been involved in his family business, Boston Cutting Die Company. . He later acquired Novelty Die Corporation
and Higgins Die & Diecutting Company.
In 1984, Robert merged his companies into a larger company specializing in die cutting systems, the manufacture of cutting dies and
commercial diecutting. In 1986, he once again struck out on his own and established Larson Associates, later to become Larson WorldWide, Inc. a consultancy
company dedicated to providing information and resources to companies involved in the many diverse segments of the diecutting process.
Also in 1986 he started to publish a quarterly journal entitled "DDIN International" (DIECUTTING Diemaking Intelligence Newsletter) which
today is read in over 34 countries around the world. In 1987, he created the international Diecutting Symposium Educational
Conference and Exhibition program that has been presented in many locations in Asia, Europe and North American. In 1996, he and his
son Erik introduced www.dieco.com that has become the recognized voice of information and resources for the diecutting process on the World
Wide Web of the Internet.
In 1972 Robert was one of organizing charter members of the Diemakers & Diecutters Association (DDA) which today is called
the International Association of Diecutters and Diemakers (IADD). He has held several term's on the Board of Directors and has been an
association Officer for a number of years. In 1993, he was awarded the prestigious Presidential Award by the IADD. In 1999 Robert received
the S. Ray Miller International Award from the IADD to recognize his involvement in our industry on an international basis. In 2002, he was
awarded the IADD Diecutter/Diemaker of the Year Award presented by packagingPRINTING magazine. Robert is also a member of the Embossing and
Foil Stamping Association.
He has written many articles on the diecutting process for national and international trade publications and has spoken
numerous times to industry groups around the world. Many of his articles can be seen in the Dieco Library in the dieco.com website. He is a
graduate of Northeastern University from the College of Business Administration with a minor in Marketing.
In 1996, Robert expanded his operations to the Common Market creating Larson (Europe) Ltd. in Wellingborough, England. From
this location he has organized Diecutting Symposium programs in Europe and is expanding his consulting and publishing efforts into Europe.
Larson WorldWide also maintains an office in Tokyo, Japan. In 1998 he developed a joint venture with Nippo I.B. Co., Ltd. to present the
Diecutting Symposium programs in Japan and China.
Robert's has been involved in international Scouting for almost 40 years. He is on the Executive Board of the Old Colony
Council, Boy Scouts of America where he had held many scouting position on the troop level, district level and council level. His hobby is
collecting Boy Scout council shoulder patches. He has written a comprehensive Guide on Collecting Council Shoulder Patches. He publishes
annual updated version for collectors of memorabilia in the Scouting movement.
