THE ALMOST
NEVER COMPLETE LIST OF DIE CUTTABLE MATERIALS
Using all types of cutting dies
-
- Below are listed a number of
materials that are currently being diecut using different types
of flat, multi-contour or rotary cutting dies. Within each material
there are numerous varieties and variations. Some of the types
may fall under other types. This list is intended only to demonstrate
the wide range of materials that are today being diecut or trimmed
utilizing different types of dies. For example, a paper material
could be laminated with a film, a cloth fabric coated or impregnated
with a rubber material. Carpeting or fabrics, for example, could
be a natural fiber like wool or a synthetic fiber like polypropylene
or blends thereof depending upon the final use of the material
in a product. Many fabrics are blends of natural fibers (cotton,
wool) and
man-made materials such as a polyester thread ei, fabrics of
60% cotton, 40% polyester. Many materials used to make gaskets
are often blends or combinations of materials to perform specific
functions.
-
- Many materials are formulations,
laminations or composites of different materials for specific
applications. Some materials are trade mark registered names
belonging to certain groups of materials ei, LEXAN® is
a high impact polycarbonate plastic material.
